The artificial grass price in Dubai starts at AED 35 per square metre for an economy grade, supplied and installed. Premium grades start at AED 75 per square metre, and sports and pet grades start at AED 90. Your final price depends on the grade, the base under the grass, drainage, the size and shape of the area, and how easy the site is to reach. Artificial grass price in Dubai per square metre
NAM Landscaping publishes indicative starting prices for artificial grass that is supplied and installed. Each grade is listed with its pile height and expected lifespan, so you can compare the price with how long the grass should last. Whether you search for artificial grass or fake grass, the grade and the work decide the price.
Pile is the length of the synthetic blades that stand above the backing. Longer pile usually looks fuller and feels softer underfoot, but a taller grade is not automatically the better choice. Pick the grade that fits how you will use the lawn, whether that is for decoration, children, or pets.
| Grade | Typical pile | Expected lifespan | Indicative price from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | About 25 mm | 5 to 7 years | AED 35 per m² |
| Mid-range | About 35 mm | 7 to 10 years | AED 50 per m² |
| Premium | About 40 mm | 10 to 15 years | AED 75 per m² |
| Sports and pet | Depends on the specification | 8 to 12 years | AED 90 per m² |
These prices are starting points, not final quotes. The price for your lawn is confirmed in writing after a site visit, because the base work and access can change the total. The lifespans are the ranges NAM quotes for each grade. Real life depends on how the lawn is used, how much sun it gets, and how well it is cleaned.
A lower price per square metre does not always mean a lower cost over time. Divide the price by the expected lifespan to get a rough yearly figure. Using the shortest lifespan in each range, the economy grade works out at about AED 7 per square metre a year (AED 35 over 5 years), and the premium grade at about AED 7.50 a year (AED 75 over 10 years). On these figures the gap is small, so the better choice depends on how hard the lawn will be used, not on the price alone. These yearly figures leave out installation labour, which is the same for each grade, so they are a guide for comparing grades rather than a full budget.
What affects the artificial grass price in Dubai
Several things change the total cost of a job, not only the price per square metre of grass. The three that matter most are the base, the drainage, and the work needed on the existing ground.
The base under the grass
The base is a layer of compacted aggregate under the grass. It keeps the surface level, stops dips from forming, and helps water move through. A thin or poorly compacted base can cause uneven spots and water that pools on the surface, which means the lawn may need repairs earlier than expected. Ask how deep the base will be and whether it is compacted in layers.
Drainage
Rain in Dubai is infrequent, but when it falls it can be heavy. Water that cannot leave the lawn sits on the base, and a lawn in a low corner of the garden is more likely to hold it. Ask whether the quote includes drainage outlets, or a slope that moves water away from walls and the house.
Existing ground and access
Removing old grass, soil or paving adds labour and disposal work. Narrow side gates, steps, or a lawn far from the road can make delivery and carrying harder. A good quote lists each of these tasks separately, so you can see what you are paying for. If the area around the lawn also needs paving or a boundary wall, see the hardscaping and outdoor upgrades service for those works.
Is artificial grass cheaper than natural grass in Dubai?
The answer depends on what you compare. Artificial grass has a higher upfront cost, but it does not need mowing or feeding. A natural lawn can have a lower upfront cost, but you pay for water, mowing, fertiliser and repairs every year. Dubai's heat and dry air can make natural lawns harder to keep green, which adds to the ongoing work. For a closer look at how natural grass copes with the local climate, read our guide to the best grass for Dubai lawns.
To compare fairly, add up the costs over five to ten years. For a natural lawn, include water, cutting, fertiliser, pest control and repairs. For artificial grass, include the installation price, the base work, and occasional cleaning and infill top-ups. Then compare each total against the expected lifespan of the option.
Heat: a practical cost to plan for
Artificial grass can get much hotter than natural grass in full sun. A 2025 study of the microclimate and burn risk of artificial turf measured an average daytime surface temperature of 49.9 °C on artificial turf, compared with 31.7 °C on natural turf that was not irrigated. The authors linked the difference to the surface absorbing more sunlight and to low evaporation. The study was carried out in one backyard in Melbourne, so your lawn may differ. Dubai's summers are long and very hot, so the sun is strong on any lawn in the open.
Very hot surfaces are also a safety issue. A 2017 research summary on artificial turf, posted by the U.S. National Toxicology Program, notes that high surface temperatures can contribute to heat stress and burns. For a family garden, this means thinking about how the lawn is used at midday, especially for children and pets.
Some steps help. Ask the supplier for heat test results for the product, because the colour of the infill alone may not solve the problem. Use shade from a pergola or trees over seating areas, and keep bare feet and pets off the lawn during the hottest hours. The same summary found that watering cooled the surface for only about 20 minutes, and that the surface rebounded to within 10 degrees of its pre-watering temperature within three hours. Treat watering as a short-term fix, not a plan. If you also keep planting beds beside the lawn, the garden irrigation guide explains how to water them without wasting water.
Ongoing care and hidden costs
Artificial grass needs less work than a natural lawn, but it is not maintenance-free. Plan for regular brushing to keep the blades upright, rinsing to remove dust and pet waste, and clearing leaves and debris. Dust from sandstorms and nearby building work settles on the surface, so a lawn beside a dusty road or a construction site may need cleaning more often.
Over time you may need to top up the infill, which can shift through brushing and wind. Seams and edges can also lift if they were not fixed well at the start. Ask the supplier what they recommend for infill top-ups, and check what the warranty covers before you sign. NAM Landscaping offers a workmanship guarantee on its installations.
What a fair artificial grass quote should include
A quote should show each part of the job, so you can compare it with other quotes on the same basis. Ask for these items in writing:
- The area in square metres, checked on site.
- The grade, pile height and expected lifespan of the grass.
- The removal of existing grass, soil or paving, and where the waste goes.
- The base material, its depth and how it is compacted.
- The drainage and the slope of the finished lawn.
- The infill type, the edging and how the seams are joined.
- The warranty and what it covers.
Compare the totals only after you have checked each line. A quote that looks cheaper because it leaves out the base or the removal work may cost more later, once those items are added back.
How to get an accurate price for your lawn
The fastest route to a reliable price is to measure the lawn first. Multiply the length by the width of each section, add the results together, and note any curves or corners. Then book a site visit, so the team can check the ground, access and drainage in person. NAM Landscaping offers a free site visit and sends a written, itemised quote before any work starts.
When you are ready, you can look at the artificial grass installation service and its grades. If you are also planning other parts of the garden, our guide to landscaping costs in Dubai helps you budget the lawn alongside the rest of the work.
